There are times in life where we think we have all the answers and can predict exactly how the future will pan out. We spend countless hours answering the question, “where will I see myself in x amount of years?” And then there are those times where we have no idea at all. Every day is another experience that you didn’t have before. At any given moment, your whole world can change and ruin your carefully-plotted 5 year plan. As hard as it is to realize, I don’t think we will ever really have definite answers to such questions that are ultimately out of our control. Half of the battle in life (or what I’ve been telling myself recently) is making mistakes and figuring yourself out in order to learn what you want and need out of whatever path you’re pursuing. Sometimes things don’t go as planned, despite how strategically you plotted the future. The world isn’t going to read your lists as directions and obey all of your 11:11 wishes. Things are going to happen to you that you don’t expect- bad and good- and what matters most is how you react to it. Every time I get into some pretty hard times, I remember a quote from Charles Swindoll, “I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you… we are in charge of our Attitudes.” The only ‘right’ decision to make during times of trial is to stay positive.

Sup. Let’s reminisce how our young adolescent years were impacted by the 3 guys and Pete Wentz that comprised the pop-punk band, Fall Out Boy. Let’s now have a moment of silence for the few years they decided to disappear from the musical forefront. NOW STOP. [hammertime] Glad that’s over because F.O.B. has returned. By F.O.B. I mean Pete Wentz… because let’s face it, Pete is undeniably THE ‘boy’ in Fall Out Boy. Well hello there, come here often? Let me tell you a little story, (not much of a story at all, just a justification) This piece was supposed to be released in December, but I wanted to wait until I was reunited with members of MissTaken (Shell & Jaidi) to record it, which was ridiculously hard because every time the song came on the radio, I wanted to shoot myself for not already releasing it. Do you ever stop and think to yourself “what am I doing next?” “where am I going with this?” “Is this the right path?” It’s so crazy how we can get caught up in what we think we should do based on our parents’ ideas, society’s mold, or even our past plans that we have now outgrown or have taken an off-road route. I think about this almost every day- But this is the time of self-exploration, the time for trial and error, this is the time that requires digging deep. However, I feel like being confused is okay. Not knowing where to go next is a scary feeling, but as long as you know you have to go- regardless of where- is the main factor. I’ll leave you with this- don’t stress wondering if you made the right decision to do something or go somewhere- you made the right decision by actually following through and doing it. Now keep going.
